Day 3
Creating Your First File
Let's create something!
Today's Lesson
Claude Code can create files for you - just describe what you want. You don't need to know syntax or formatting. Today, you'll create a folder for this challenge and your first markdown file inside it.
Today's Tasks
- 1Create a folder called `cc30` in your home directory
- 2Ask Claude Code to create a file called `goals.md`
- 3The file should contain your goals for this 100-day challenge
- 4Open the file and verify it exists
Prompt to Use
Create a folder called cc30 in my home directory. Inside it, create a file called goals.md with a markdown document listing 3 goals I want to achieve in this 100-day challenge. Ask me what my goals are first.
Expected Outcome
A new folder with a goals.md file inside.
New Terms
- Markdown
- .md file
- mkdir
Pro Tip
Markdown is just text with simple formatting. `#` makes a heading, `-` makes a bullet point. That's 80% of what you need.
Coming Tomorrow
We'll learn about CLAUDE.md - a special file that gives Claude Code context about your project.
P.S. You just created something from nothing. This is what building feels like.
